Climate data

The climate averages under the price calculator come from ERA5-Land, a climate reanalysis from the Copernicus Climate Change Service: a model of past weather, guided by observations, on a grid of about 9 km. For each overnight stop we use the nearest grid point on land and average its hourly values for 2016–2025: each day's highest and lowest temperature, by Sri Lankan time, and each month's total rain. Temperatures are rounded to whole degrees and rain to the nearest 10 mm.
